Donations M Nectar is a thrift boutique in Austin, Texas, featuring one-of-a-kind treasures from around the world including jewelry, vintage clothes, collectibles, gift items and more. Since opening in 2010, Nectar has taken root, offering a warm, welcoming, intimate space to shop, with 100% of its proceeds benefiting the youth programs of the Amala Foundation.Nectar is located above the Amala Sanctuary at 1006 S. 8th Street (off of Treadwell). Surrounded by oak trees that are hundreds of years old and a beautiful garden, Nectar is situated in one of the most magical spots in Austin. Come see for yourself. OUR MISSIONSUSTAIN - By donating 100% of its proceeds to the Amala Foundation and its service projects, all who spend at Nectar have a part in directing their spending consciously, and funding projects that benefit local, immigrant, at-risk, and refugee youth.PROVIDE- We offer a diverse and unique selection of clothing and gifts; some recycled, some made by local designers and artists, and some global imports... all at very fair prices.NOURISH - Nestled high among ancient oaks on the beautiful grounds of Amala, Nectar has evolved into a space which invites people to connect and replenish. Nectar's mission is to offer a warm and welcoming environment for people to participate in an alternative shopping experience: one where personal connections are more valued than commerce, and every purchase benefits the Whole. I extend a personal invitation to all to visit Nectar and tap into our sweetness. Nectar graciously accepts donations including clothing. With your generous donations, our thrift boutique has been able to consistently offer treasures at prices accessible to all. We receive donations on Wednesdays and Thursdays from 12pm-5pm. Due to the limited size of our space and lack of storage, we may not always be able to accept every donation that is offered. Deep gratitude to each of you who have donated, thus being essential participants in Nectar's growth and Amala's sustainability. Nectar has a large collection of vintage and recycled women's clothing and accessories, a small collection of men's and children's wear, fair trade organic chocolate, Indian imports, original artwork, and locally designed clothing and jewelry and much more. Our inventory changes daily due to a constant influx of new donations and new vendors. This business model keeps things fresh at Nectar and allows us to reflect Austin-style originality.

fa Featured Artist: Ben Newman "Photography"Ben Newman's photographs are visual short stories that are layered with complexities. He shows how people live in third world communities and in doing so hopes to bring awareness to the living conditions that many are forced to endure. Newman grew up in Madison, Wisconsin and graduated from Maharishi University of Management where he studied Sustainable Living and Human Ecology (2006-09). His work on sustainability projects has taken him around the world: in Bali he helped develop a youth center, in Cambodia he organized a health center for a nursing unit and designed rain-catchment systems, and in South Africa he worked with C.A.R.T. (Centre for Appropriate Rural Technology) to build a youth center for a community along the eastern cape. Always in hand was his camera and his favorite subjects were the people he met.
